  • Mitchell presented on Startup Weekends with the hope of establishing this event in New York’s Southern Tier. Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable.  On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday; attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
  • Mitchell Patterson is the Managing Director for the Emerging Business Portfolio at CenterState CEO.  He manages an IP commercialization fund that has invested over 2 million dollars as well as the investment portfolio of the NY’s Creative Core Emerging Business Competition.  Mitchell also leads an initiative to attract and develop a network of capital partners from outside of the region to support emerging and existing business growth and attraction.  Mitchell provides support for a multi-county regional growth strategy with a network of business leaders, public officials, economic development organizations, and high education administration.
