- T. Kowalik opened the meeting by providing an overview of the agenda and asking individuals attending the meeting to introduce themselves.
- Rod Howe (Executive Director, Community and Rural Development Institute and Assistant Director, Community and Economic Vitality, Cornell Cooperative Extension) and Lois Kang (Regional Community Development Educator Cornell Cooperative Extension, Chemung County) gave a presentation titled, “A Regional Community and Economic Development Partnership”.
- John Hayek (Executive Director, of the Southern Tier Opportunities Coalition) gave a brief overview describing his Coalition, its purpose and examples of recent projects.
- T. Kowalik asked members of this group to contribute ideas and suggestions for a document responding to the Governor’s task force on diversifying the New York State economy through industry — higher education partnership. Members of the group agreed to review a draft document. T. Kowalik will submit to everyone and they will add their ideas to the document. After adding their suggestions, members will return the document to T. Kowalik for compiling everyone’s responses and drafting a final document to be sent to the task force. T. Kowalik will prepare the final draft and submit that for final review to members of the cooperative. After vetting has taken place, T. Kowalik will prepare the final document and submit it to the task force.
